Does anyone else have this? It's not a bone/joint type pain, it's in my lower back lumbar region and it feels more like a nerve pain... Like a throbbing, radiating pressure originating from my spine. It usually happens when I'm sitting down and when I'm having a particularly bad stomach day. Just curious what it could be.

Yup
I'm sure it's just another fun side effect

i had a herniated disc once and it pinched off my sciatic nerve. feels just like you're describing.
it eventually got worse and worse and the pain extended from my middle back down to my right foot.
i could only lay down or stand up as sitting was a no no.
you should get it checked out just in case. its crappy cuz you cant get to where the pain is actually coming from. like in the middle, but you cant poke it cuz its so far deep inside.

I've had back pain forever and do have degeneration from since I was young (fell a lot on my tailbone and have slight scoliosis and lordosis) so it's nothing new for me....but when I'm flaring it can be worse and seems more specific and intense..especially before a bm.
Monthly cycles will cause back pain as well.
I agree to get it checked out in case there's anything else going on....especially if it's a new symptom for you.

kazygirl, it's funny you should say that because often when the pain is bad it does go down my right leg to my foot, and sometimes I find myself trying to stretch or massage my thigh/hip area because it seems like it hurts there but then it doesn't help. I was interesting in getting another bone scan again anyway, perhaps I will set all this up and get it checked out. I wonder, would a bone density scan show problems like that as well or would you have to get something more like an MRI?

When this happened to me, I was advised (by my golf coach, former Mr. California so knows lots about
muscles) to get myofascial release therapy from a physican therapist or massage therapist. I tried both, and the massage therapist (make sure they have been trained on this) was better at it, but the physical therapist gave me ab exercises that helped too. They will pull on your legs and find trigger points where your fascia (sp?) is bound up, because what you describe is sciatic nerve pain (and it will stop you in your tracks!!).
My bone density was fine, and x-ray showed nothing. I got an MRI which showed a mildly bulging disk, which is something that can resolve itself in time (but still cause much pain and spasms). I had an epidural cortisone shot per doc's recommendation, but the M-R massage therapy had already worked pretty well so I didn't really know if that had any effect. Some seats irritate it, also standing for a long time or walking on hard surfaces.
In the meantime, ICE!! Aleve helps when I feel pain developing, and the oxycodone works really well but I'm conservative about
using what I have left of the prescript
ion. I'm starting to feel this again, and have another appointment with the massage therapist.
BTW, I get a throbbing feeling in my lower back when I'm on prednisone, it's different and goes away when the prednisone ends. I worried it was a kidney issue, but all always tested OK.

Every time I get a UTI, my lower back hurts. I have no other symptoms other than a lower backache.

I have back pain (lower back pain) when I know I will have to go soon.. and I am flaring. i think it is your colon pressure - sort of. but mine usually feels better about
20 minutes after the release

edie.. if it is a pinched sciatic nerve, you cant really tell by bone scan (i dont think anyway). they had to do special xray or something (not sure) and they saw one of my discs slightly off center and pinching my nerve. the sciatic is in the middle and its hard to pinpoint the pain. it extends from the middle back down to the feet. one on each side.
mine was on the right side. but it could be either one. the pain is there usually all the time, but gets worse something. like it comes and goes.
i was cleaning my room one night and sneezed while bending over to pick up some clothes and BAM! straight to the emergency room. i couldnt move.
thats when they diagnosed what it was.
cant do much about
it but rest and take muscle relaxers.
a few years ago in bali, i went to a reflexologist and told em i had back pain and a pinched sciatic. well they gave me the most painful massage of my life. it hurt for 3 days and then i have NOT had ANY PAIN in 5 years. all gone. and i had bad chronic back pain for ages.
might want to try it.
cant hurt (well kinda)
