So...after some good advice on this board

I call my doctor and left a message telling him I am having a hard time retaining the Rowesa enema, and could he switch me to the foam.(as was suggested by a few people here)

Nope.

He (actually someone from his office) called me back, and told me to take one suppository every day for 2 weeks, and then try the Rowesa enemas again.

I wonder why he is reluctant to give me the foam.  Had it been him I talked to I would have asked, but it was second hand.

I'm the same way!! I guess since I've had it longer than she's been a GI...

avoiding pred is what most of us should....unless the 5ASA or steroid topicals cannot work for us. Now, that takes commitment to use them and some aren't of that focus to be using them or waiting to feel better (although there seems to be disappointment once the taper starts).

The foam enemas (in US and Canada) are only in steroid form...wish they came in the 5ASA...reallllllly wishing.

Regarding the Rowasa...can you possibly try a half bottle at a time?
Are you using them at night or morning?

That's really too bad. I swear by the cortifoam. Easy to use and rarely a problem to retain. After a minute, I've forgotten all about it. Several very respected and well-known GIs have told me that it is ok to use it on an on-going basis even though it has steroids. The amount of steroids absorbed the body that way is very small. I would speak with your doctor directly, even if that means making an appointment OR I would consult with another doctor.
