Wisdom Teeth removal/ UC drugs?

I just had two of my wisdom teeth removed (I don't wish this on anyone!!), do you guys worry about the interactions between your pain meds and your UC meds? I was given vicodin and told to rotate between one tablet of vicodin (5mg hydrocondone/500 acetaminophen) and 400mg Ibuprofen every four hours. I am still on prednisone/asacol, the Oral surgeon said it was no big deal....

Ibuprofen is a no no for Uc'ers since it can cause intestinal bleeding. When I had my wisdom teeth removed a few years ago, I was taking Darvocet and the only thing that it cause for me was a bit of constipation.

I had all of 4 of my wisdom teeth removed at once and had no problems with the pain meds (I don' renember the names), altough I remember I was on Inmuran and had to quit it for about 3- 4 days, because Inmuran is said to cause more bleeding.

The occasional use of ibufrophen for UCers is okay.  It's chronic use that might cause bleeding.  I used it sporadically when I had UC and it never bothered me.

My doc told also told me occassional use of ibu was okay. I used to take it fairly regularly and heavily for joints and muscles but since being on the pred, I haven't had any of those problems. The doc said though occassionaly was okay. He said the word to remember was sparingly.

     My GI doctor told me absolutely NO Ibuprofen.  Four years ago I fell and suffered a compressed fracture of the lumbar spine.  This happened in the middle of the night.  I took two Ibuprofen until the early morning when I couldn't stand the pain anymore and had my husband take me to the ER.  They gave me Hydrocodone for the pain.  I also have had wisdom teeth removed but only took Tylenol.  Don't remember having much pain...only they caused pain beforehand.

definitely nix the ibuprophen.

I personally liked demerol for my wisdom teeth removal..I can't take codeine.

I stay away from ibuprofen like the PLAGUE as I truly believe that taking it helped my UC start up. I took oxycodone after giving birth(sparingly) and it worked great to get rid of the pain and also gave me quite a happy feeling. Did not cause me to flare at all. I've also taken tylenol with codeine for menstural cramps with no issues either. Personally I wouldn't risk the ibuprofen as there are other alternatives.
