Uh oh,,,On Remicade, got a cold!!

OK another problem just cropped up.  My son has had 2 remicade infusions,,due for his 3rd on Friday.  He just informed me he caught a cold, has a sore throat, little runny nose, no fever....yet...  He just noticed the sore throat this morning.  Should we pump him full of Vit. C? Chicken soup?   Normally, he never even gets colds, now he has one.  I thinkin his immune system was comprimised now.  Did anyone here get a cold while on Remi?  What did you do, and did it worsen into something else.  I'm gonna call his doctor on Monday.  In the meantime,,he is in bed, under covers, and I'm making Chicken soup.  I'm a little worried.

He was doing fine.  My husband has had a cold here for about a week, but getting over it.  I've been wiping everything down and I gave my son those Zicam Q-tips things to swipe in his nostrils.  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I've had one cold since being on Remi. It was gone in a week, no worse than any other cold. I just took care of it like always - eating light, fever reducers as needed, lots of fluids and rest.

Chicken soup and vitamin C can't hurt. Zicam won't hurt either, however controlled studies have not shown any benefit from it.

Most important, don't panic. While Remi statistically does make people more susceptible to infections. most people get over colds, etc. just as they always have.

Get in the sunlight, up vit C, no sweet stuff. Rest and don't freak out. If he does get a fever, it's best to let it run its course unless really high. I personally just do first things mentioned, gargle colloidal silver, and use manuka honey and green tea.

I started getting a cold about 1 week before my last Remicade infusion. I loaded up on Zicam and was fine in a few days. The Remicade didn't seem to make the cold worse or last longer. It was my first cold since starting Remicade in Feb 08. My daughter has been sick twice and my husband very sick once and I didn't catch anything. Zicam works wonders for me.
