Entocort (3mg pills), experiences?

I went to a follow up about 2 weeks ago with my GI (who I really like) to see how the tapering off of Prednisone had been going (down to 10mg at the time).  Well he wanted me to go down to 5mg and start 9mg of Entocort per day.  He gave me samples of the Entocort and some samples of Lialda since I had complained about the cost of the Lialda ($80/month cost to me after insurance).  Well he warned me the Entocort was pretty pricey as well so I was thinking about the same as the Lialda.

I finally got the Rx filled last night and it was $162/month after insurance ($800+ without insurance). 

I am going ot discuss it with my GI but I am not sure I can afford $250/month in meds (Lialda + Entocort).

Are these prices abnormal or pretty much par for the course?

P.S.  I felt better the couple of weeks before I started mixing in the Entocort.  I have had more D lately and just some more instability (including lots of "noises/rumblings").

Bumping my own thread hoping someone has insight or experience with Entocort. I feel like I am regressing with it.

I wouldn't worry about the cost too much because you shouldn't be on it for more than a month or two. I know some people take it for longer but it can hurt you with the side effects if you're on it for too long (it's still a steroid). It usually helps me but it has never put me in remission. My GI has always said that if it's going to work, I will know in the first week. I usually do see an improvement in that first week but I never get back to normal.

That is what I was assuming.  I saw an almost immediate downturn.  Even right now, a week and a half into the Entocort, I am not feeling any better overall.  In fact, the noises and rumblings seem to be increasing and the mornings are becoming uncomfortable.

Entocort has worked really well for me but as soon as I start tapering I am back where I started. Doc will not prescribe more than a few weeks worth.
