Generic Colozol? anyone on it ? does it work

I was prescribed the generic version of colozol. Said my insurance would only give me this.. Im sure it works, i dont know pretty early in my flare to tell otherwise but before i was prescribed the real stuff from Salix.

For some it works just fine.  My experience was that it did not work as well as the brand and I had to switch back.  My insurance doesn't cover it as well - but I don't really have a choice.

All it did was make me bleed when I went poo in the morning, didn't stop until I quit taking it and switched to Sulfasalazine.

The Generic Colozol did that? hmm thats what im having, but its so early in flare to tell anyway. what is Sulfasalazine?

I am on generic Colazol and do not see much difference between when I was on the brand name one.

I'm also on generic Colazal. When I switched from brand to generic, I had a slight increase of symptoms but then my body got used to the generic form and I am ok on it now.

I took the generic for 3 months last fall due to health insurance requirement; it made me sick. I got nagging headaches at the base of skull-- never had that before! Then I returned to brand-name in Dec. No headaches, but the formula has been changed from what it was 2003-2007 so it doesn't slow peristalsis & curb D like it used to-- for me. Its anti-inflammatory property still works, thankfully. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

I was on Balsalazide generic for 1 year and was steadily getting worse...way more symptomatic throughout the day, gas, weight loss, everything, the whole 9 yards. Had the GI write the script do not substitute and way happier now. Took me quite a while to make the connection, as I had believed the generics were supposed to be the same? I still don't know how that works.

I've been on colazal several years and have tried both. I can't tell any difference between the two. Interestingly enough, I am not using the generic now and am having a bad flareup. I think for me it's my stress level more than anything.
