Okay, I only got one Depo shot. I was sposed to get the second in November but I didn't. It seems like if I only got one shot, it should be out of my system by now! 'Cause I know it can take a while. Anyways, when I didn't go in, I didn't get my period til right before Christmas. So including that one, up to this point, I've had FOUR periods! I just started the fourth yesterday.  What should I do? I'm sick of it! I get like a three day break in between. I think bc pills would help, but the whole point of the shot, and then quitting bc, is because it was screwing with my UC. Should I just tough it out and let my body take care of things, or go on bc for a month or so and rectal meds? Ideas please! Arg.

Also: in between my periods, my UC gets a little better, so if I could just get a whole friggin month in between them, that would help a lot, but with this near constant period it's not helping =/

Hmmmm, tough decision. Remember I was talking about getting an IUD a couple months ago. Well, I decided to give the pill a shot. I spotted and bled a lot for the first 2 months. Maybe that won't happen to you tho. If I were you I would give your body time to adjust on it's own.

Yeah I stopped the pill cause that's what was causing the constipation and the bleeding (UC bleeding). I really liked it except for that.

You really should ask your doc about those options. I'm sure many of us here wouldn't want to comment either way because we don't want our advice to hurt you.

Just a FYI, my daughter has had 3 depo shots and still has sporadic bleeding. We are going to stick with it for about a year to see if it stops for her completely because we feel this is the easiest of the bc's for a 14 year old.

What kind of pill were you on before you quit? Was it a low level one like ortho tricyclen? If it wasn't maybe a low dose would be better. I'd talk to your doctor/gyno for the best options. Nothing is ever easy is it?

I've never done deop, but if I were you I would give the doctor a call just to see what he/she says.

I currently take ortho novum, but I take it on an extended cycle meaning that I am only supposed to get my period once every three months, which is great since my UC acts up a ton for the first three days of my period. It works well for me, as long as I remember to take the pill everyday. I recently talked to my GYN and she said she has recently read some research that there is no medical need for a period, if you aren't trying to get pregnant, so now I am considering switching to a pill routine where I don't take the inactive pills every twelve weeks. I"ll keep you posted on how it goes.

Best of luck. I am sure you are frustrated with the increased number of cycles you are experiencing.

Red, just make sure you tell her what can happen when she tries to go off it. I was starting to think I was pregnant (til this started) and the longer you're on it the worse side-effects you can get. But of course they don't tell you that. I read some lovely things in forums and stuff, ugh. I really liked the pill but so much for that lol.

callalily, I dunno, I was just on a normal old pill. I think I'm just gonna stick to condoms because I've had it with hormones.

My period doesn't usually mess with my UC too much, and I'm not getting cramping and stuff with these ones, but the hormones or somethin' are messing with it a bit. I'm not too worried. If this happens again I'll call the doctor (see, no ones advice will hurt me 'cause I don't always take it XD ). I think I just wanna leave my body alone for a while. I know this can happen going off Depo, I just didn't think one shot would really cause it. Thought I'd check out others' experiences.
