I was on Rowasa and it never helped with bleeding plus my hair fell out a lot. So in between getting a new doctor due to insurance and waiting for the pharmacy to order the steriod enema then getting the wrong one I developed D. Well I got the steroid and it did help with the bleeding like Rowasa never did and I have times where my stool is more formed. The steroids do not seem to help with urgency like Rowasa did though. I have heard that if I take a lower dose of Rowasa I might not get the hair loss again. So has anyone heard of taking both? Could I do steroids one night and Rowasa the next? Loose stools do not bother me near as much as the mad dash to the toilet does.

My doctor told me it was ok. I couldn't take the Rowasa because it burned my rectum.

I don't see why not. My doctor put me on hydrocortisone enemas and asacol tablets at the same time.

I think you can. That's my doc's next plan if my current treatment doesn't pan out. I think he said Canasa 1000mg at night and steroid enema/suppository at night...not 100% though, I was a little spaced out after the colonoscopy!

In my recent flare my GI had me doing Cortenemas at night and Rowasa in the morning.

In every flare I have...and i have many. I use Rowasa in the am and Steroid enemas in the pm. When feeling better, I do Rowasa one night and Steroid the next. My doc knows about
this and he's fine with it.
