White blood cell count while on Remicade

     Does anyone know what their WBC is while they are on Remicade?  My infusion was two weeks ago yesterday.  I had my CBC drawn on Monday and got the results today....excellent!  My WBC was 7.5.  While I was on 6MP my white count had dipped way down to 1.6 at one time.   That was when I was taking 100 mgm.  On 50 mgm my white count was 3.5, which is where my doctor said he wanted it.  Seems like when it got higher than 3.5, my immune system would attack itself.  At least that is how my doctor explained it.  Could this mean that the Remicade is NOT suppressing my immune system?  Still wondering if the doctor would give me the max dose I may have better results.  UGH...decisions, decisions.

I think they try to get it between 4 and 6. I think if it is any higher than 6 then your immune system is too strong and it won't help your UC. I would ask again for a higher does, as you really need to be a bit lower than that.

I was on it and my WBC count was 5.5 and I felt great, but when I had to come off it and go onto the imuran it went back up to 8 and I was really bad again. I am on imuran and humira now and starting to feel better so I would imagine it is after dropping again, but I am not due for another count for 3 weeks, so I will have to wait till then unless things get a lot worse.

Remicade doesn't suppress your entire immune system, just one component of it. So many people don't see any difference in their white counts or susceptibility to infection. My white counts have always been normal.
