Enema failing after 4 days??

Sooo the GI saw inflammation in my rectal area during my recent colonoscopy so he prescribed Cortifoam 2x a day.  He said I should see results in 4-5 days (I've been bleeding pre-colonscopy).  I started it on Sat and there was no blood Sat night-yesterday so pretty much what felt like instant results.  Now today there was cry    Don't know if it's from the straining (I've had a hard trouble making a BM) but after seeing blood for the first time in 2 years I've been worried and hoped this would do the trick.  Is this just a minor setback or could it have failed me already!? confused

Not a failure, but you have improved somewhat,right?

Once the inflammation eases, your bms will get better too...definitely with less straining.

What about two months of mesalazine enemas (1 x nightly) which brought on remission. The morning after the last one there is a small about of blood in/on/arounb the bm! What is that about?

Only the day before I had a perfectly formed bm (the best I've had in almost a year)! Can anyone give me a clue?

I've got another 28 enemas I'm supposed to use to taper off (1 every 2 days).

I used to notice blood with straining (which is why I started Metemucil, to prevent straining) and also blood if I need to "hold it" a few minutes to get to the bathroom, if I have some inflammation.

Sounds like your initial response to the enemas was very good, and I hope you'll get back there soon - especially if you don't strain. Have you tried some kind of fiber to help the stools pass more comfortably?

No fiber but my GI told me to take Colace. It says it might take 72 hours to first pass a BM and I started it about 24 hours ago so fingers crossed!

Soo my GI prescribed me with Cortifoam about 6 days ago, wants me to take it for a month, and said I should notice a change in 4-5 days. I have noticed a change in that I can sit on the toilet and pass gas without blood coming out (which was the problem pre-Cortifoam). I noticed that within a day but today I passed my first formed BM since beginning it and there was blood on it. Is this normal to have blood on the first BM post new enema-use? Do you think I need to give the foam a little more time to fully work? I know he said 4-5 days to see a change but I don't know if "change" means progress or seeing absolutely no blood at any time. Thoughts?
