Odd urine smell? OT?

Hi all:

So...the last couple days I've noticed a smell to my urine, kinda a sharp smell, sorta reminds me of a cleaner, possibly ammonia?

I think I'll call my family doc tomorrow, but in the meantime..anyone have any ideas what this means?

I don't have any other symptoms of UTI and I've not eaten or drank anything out of the ordinary...

Asparagus gives an odor to urine, but it tends to smell woodsy. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

could be you are dehyrdated, is is really yellow?

Hey Calm OTO :)

I just got over a HORRIFIC bladder infection and my first symptom was a noticibly different smell to my pee... hard to describe, but it was defineatly noticable... It was another day or two before I started getting the pain and bad fever... it may be something completely different in your case, but man o man.. was I sickkkkkk with that one.. I'd defineatly get a call into your doctor, they will probably want to do a urine culture just to be safe... I just finished a round of Macrobid, which didn't seem to bother my U/C at all.. (Im flaring but it didn't get any worse) and didn't cause any stomach upset or anything.. Just wanted to share.. I'd try flushing out with some extra water to see if that helps... and cranberry juice (the unsweetend kind) is always a safe bet with me..

Cranberries helps bladder infection if your not so into antibiotics

I have had strong smell on and off with my urine, but I am a guy and also deal with prostratitus, so I assumed it was that. I was never really sure though what causes it. Lately it has been good for me, maybe it was because I been staying away from sugar and carbs more than before. I can only guess.
