Missing a dose of asacol?

Ive taken Asacol AM and PM for about 9 months now.

I find 8 hours later I pass a small amount of diarreah(no biggy)

but Im working late Monday in a public situation so Im wondering if I miss my morning dose I wont need to go during my work.

Will missing 1 dose on purpose be a bad idea?

Well I miss doses accidently all the time and I've never been affected by it but everyone is different.

I don't know what you mean...are you thinking that the asacol causes you diarrhea?

If you're in a situation as you describe, maybe take a low dosage of imodium.

I personally think you should continue the asacol...but once won't hurt. I've done it on occasion, but I've sometimes taken the whole dosage the next time. I only take 6 daily, however.

I think you'll still have a bm anyway...so don't really see the connection of the asacol/bm. That could just be YOUR time to have one.

Try the imodium.

ARe you also using rectal meds?

Have you tried fibre supplements?

Im not stopping the asacol, after 7-8 hours regular as clockwork I pass a little diarreah due to the asacol.

I use a salofalk enima once a week and take metamucil although this gives killer gas!

I take 4 x 800 asacol a day so would it matter taking all 4 in the PM?

I believe there are folks here who take all 4 of the 800 mg tablets at once.... maybe they'll confirm that.

My prescription is for 8 Asacol daily; bottle says, "Can take all tablets at one time." My doc seems to think it's fine and I haven't had any adverse reactions to taking it all at once.

I will also suggest you up the Rowasa to at least every night for a week and see if that symptom improves.

You could try taking them all at one time....see what happens. It is a high dosage, however. But it seems the research states it doesn't matter actually. The only thing is that some high dosages depending on how it's disbursed can sometimes cause more diarrhea...but all you can do is experiment.

I don't fully understand why you're on a high oral and low of once a week rectal?
