While I don't have the UC dx, in answer to your question, yes I have had minor accidents. Usually it's when I've put off going to the bathroom too long. What I think will be gas isn't.
What gives me great comfort though is wearing Stayfree Ultra Thin Maxipads, the overnight style (they are extra long, with wings, they go way up in the back of my underwear just where you need a pad most). They are very thin but highly absorbent. I read about these pads on a colon cancer message boards, how people going thru chemo and post surgery people experiencing multiple trips the bathroom (my problem) wore them all the time.
I am never without a pack under the sink, pack them for every trip we go on, wear them when I'm at work, traveling in the car, etc. They save me having the change clothes. I don't really need them about 70-80% of the time, but it's nice to know I won't have a mess on my hands suddenly.
I can't recommend these pads enough, they're better than trying to wear depends (which is too much protection for what I need).
