Effexor Dosage - Advise Needed

Hello All,

I'm taking Effexor for last one year @ a dosage of 75mg. Now I wanted to come down to 37.5mg.
So I started taking that dosage from last night and I noticed some Bad dreams. This use to happen for me when I forgot to take Effexor sometimes.
Is it normal?
How can we control this?
I don't want to go up to 70mg.
Please advise?

Can the tablets be split or are they time release? If they can be split, how about going up to 3/4 of your dose for a couple of weeks and then down to 1/2 dose?

You need to alternate 75, 37.5, 75, 37.5 for at least 2 - 3 weeks or longer if you need...I did that and had relatively no problems.

But why am I getting strange and bad dreams which never use to happen while I was on 70mg.....Even last night I got a very bad dream and in the morning it was little bit drowsy...

Nightmares are a symptom of SSRI discontinuation syndrome

OK....but are you alternating or just dropped?

What you could do is just take a few grains out from the 70 mg capsule each day for about a week, then take a few more for another week...etc.
