Blood and mucus - comes and goes

Here's just a suggestion of what you can negotiate:

"I understand you believe it has no benefit, but it's my butt. I'm hoping you'll support me in this and prescribe the enemas anyway so that I can maintain the best coverage. I'm not saying I will never flare again, and it's most likely that having NO maintenance I'll flare anyway, but having a smaller flare is better than a bigger one if I wait too long or can't get in to see you to have them prescribed.

I know of some who have had great success with them....some using them for over 20 years and having minimal flares. Plus, no precancer detected in colonoscopies and no surgery which some data says is inevitable eventually.

Can we do this together...I'm willing to do the work if you're willing to support me in this. I'll have ups and downs, but at least I'll feel/believe I'm doing something to help myself and not feel that I have to call you at every symptom.

I also want to avoid steroids.

I'll make regular appointments for when you think would be best for blood tests and check-ups, etc"

A supportive doc who talks...it's a good thing.

Being prepared with is using your time wisely.
