Hi everyone
Paige had surgery yesterday! It was a really long surgery (almost 8 hrs) which I guess is common. She did great, no complications ans has pretty much been sleeping this whole time. She has an epidural for pain as well as morphine every 3 hours. The nurses at this hospital are so awesome! (Children's Hospital in LOs Angeles)
She had the colectomy done laparoscopically but she does have an incision at the top of her pubic bone (exactly like a c section incision) which we were told about
, but I thought it was going to be much smaller. I had a c section with Paige and it was a really tough recovery, so I am concerned recovery for her will be harder than expected. Not one person I have talked to has this type of an incision...has anyone else heard of this?

That's wonderful she's on the road of recovery!
I don't know any information regarding the incision, I apologize. But did the doctor talk about
scarring at all with you?

Thank you for the update. I am so happy she's doing well.
I don't know anything about
incisions and surgery. This may be a question for the ostomy board.
Please update again when you can.

Wow, awesome to hear Paige's surgery went well. I hope her recovery goes smoothly and that she has no complications.
Let us know about
the lower incision and why it was done. Maybe it was to remove the colon and prepare the lower area in preparation for the next step?

I had the c section style incision with my surgery and it healed up fine. I had it done lapo as well. They make that incision b/c that's where they removed the colon from. I really didn't have much pain from that site. Most of the pain I had was inside and the pain meds really do their job for that.
Glad to hear all went well!
