Question about Miralax/Dulcolax prep...

My daughter is starting her prep this afternoon for her scope tomorrow. I have never done the Miralax/Dulcolax prep so can someone tell me if it works as quickly and efficiently as the other preps? Does it give you any abdominal pains? Is the urgency the same?

Never tried it, but hope her prep goes OK!

How did she make out with the liquid diet?

My last and final colonoscopy was a Miralax mixed with Gatoraid prep (took dulcolax also before drinking it). Is that what she is doing? It is the best prep by far. I didn't have any abdominal pains that I can remember. It did a good clean out job and it's so much easier to get down. I always got sick to my stomach with the other preps and this one I did not.

Let us know how she makes out with the prep. My son is doing this prep on Wednesday. Must be something new? It was the first time I heard of this as well.

I think is it relatively new. My hubby did this prep not long ago for his routine colonoscopy and his GI dr. didn't know about it. I talked his dr. into letting him do this prep since I had done it before and now his dr. uses it for all his patients. It's just so much better and easier than that awful Golytely stuff.

When I did it I felt like it took a while for things to get started. Next time I will start the miralax/gatorade earlier so that I am up less during the night.

I'm not sure how she is doing with her liquid prep. She is in school right now but when I woke up this morning, she was eating a popsicle and than some jello. She starts her first Ducolax at 3pm (it's 12:30pm now). So when she gets home she gets to start the "journey"!

But yes, she is doing the Dulcolax/Miralax/Gatorade prep.

She is to take two Dulcolax at 3pm, start the Gatorade/Miralax at 5pm until gone (8oz every 10 minutes) and than an additional two Dulcolax at 8pm. Since she has hemmies, I have some Tuck pads ready for her. I guess that is one benefit to having a mother with Uc....she knows the tricks to getting thru this!

I think this prep although easier to get down does take longer to get started. Next time I do it I will start the Miralax earier because I was up until well after midnight still going. I think my doc had me take the dulcolax at 4 and miralax at 6.

Although the GOlytely is harder to get down it cleans me out quicker. Last time I took that one I was going light yellow to clear by 11ish and still got a goodnights sleep, the Miralax I think that didn't happen until really late maybe 2ish.

I thought that miralax prep was the most gentle on my system. With the fleet crap I felt like I had the flu. Honestly I didn't give me much diarrhea at all.

Well she is done with the prep. She may still go again (or a couple of times) this evening but she is going clear. She handled it great even tho she said her bum stings (yes she used the Tuck wipes).

We have to be at the hospital by 6am tomorrow. I'm crossing my fingers and praying that nothing shows up. That maybe her D can be chalked up to IBS with the bleeding due to hemmies.

I did this prep. I threw up in the process of the gatorade/miralax. Other than that, no major issues.
