I have collected first editions of post-WWII American (mostly) literary fiction for a while. The books on the wall and in the glass-enclosed bookcases are all first editions (there are about
1000). The ones on top of the bookshelf are not firsts but they're books I want to keep for one reason or another. I also have a built in bookshelf in my clothes closet, and it's filled with books that are not firsts but are books I'll re-read. And I just got a Kindle in November so that I no longer have to store physical copies of books that aren't collectible. I'm really digging the Kindle, much to my surprise.
My home looks like a library but when I was a little little kid, I imagined that heaven was, in essence, the Library of Congress, so it's no surprise that when I moved into my own home and made it as comfortable and comforting as possible, that included a lot of books.
