I have been suffering with Colitis since 2003 and have also had horrible joint pain.  I have resently been told that I have Joint Fibromyalgia which is different then regular Fibromyalgia (which effects muscles).  I was told that people with an auto immune disease is more likely to get another auto immune disease like Fibromyalgia.  I never understood why I had joint problems and others didn't with Colitis.  Has anyone else been told this?  They started me on Neuronton and it is helping but I am having trouble thinking and it makes me dizzy.

I have mild/moderate colitis, and then was hit with joint inflammation so bad that i couldn't walk, and had to go on remicade. It hit my knees, shoulders, knuckles, elbows, it was the worse pain I have ever been in...hope you get better!!! Remicade took care of it

about 25% of people with inflammatory bowel disease develop joint pain. You are not alone. I don't know how your DR reached a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, but I hope you find a way to treat it that works without making you dizzy.

I take sulfazine, which is used to treat both arthritis and ulcerative colitis. It has really helped eliminate the pain I was having in my hands/wrists/elbows.

I have Fibro (diagnosed by a Rheumatologist) as well as peripheral arthritis. PA is a condition that doesn't cause damage to the joints but when my inflammation markers increase so does the pain in my joints. I have tried Neurontin (which is mainly used for nerve type pain), Skelaxin and Flexeril (muscles relaxers) - all these meds made me feel like a zombie so I make do with Tylonel arthritis and occasionally a Nsaid (which normally is a no no).

I have joint pain also, especially when I am in a flare. It's mainly my knees and elbows and it gets really bad. Its hard because all the anti-inflammatory drugs mess with my colon. If it gets really bad I end up taking Celebrex for a few days, at least that drug is only once a day.

I have significant joint pain on and off. I can only say that gluten is one of my triggers.
I have no idea why it flares up other than that. And even without gluten it sometimes comes on
strong and disables me for up to weeks sometimes.
My pain doctor assures me it is quite common in folks with UC. She called it transitory joint pain.
It doesn't swell or cause damage, just really painful and it moves around my body to different joints!!
I thought I was cracking up because it moved around. Thought I was having a mental breakdown because
I couldn't figure it out and thought I was creating it somehow.....nope, its a real thing, especially if one already
has one autoimmune disorder this is just another add-on. Unlucky. I have other health issues too so it just goes along
with it all.
Right now it is gone. Can't tell anyone why or how but I just celebrate and do lots of things in the garden and
house and with friends NOW because it may be back tomorrow and screwing with my life.
I "pray" for you to find relief and peace. It's so hard.

Fibro isn't an auto immune disease....

I have horrible joint pain from my UC. My Dr. gave me celebrex but I have yet to try it. I would get a 2nd opinion - sounds like your Dr. doesn't know what's going on.

Are you currently flaring? If so, getting this flare under control may help the pain.
