Pregnant and having a Flare up

Ive been having a flare up pretty much this whole year since ive been having trouble receiving my medicine i need.
Anyways my sister did some research and found stuff saying that I will have to have a C-section, cause of the fact I'm having a flare up. But when i talked to my doctor today he had no idea what i was talking about. My sister said that the site she found said that i need to have a C-section to prevent infection to the baby and to prevent a tear from my vagina to my rectum. So if Anyone has any experience with this and would like to share please do.

Unless you are in a terrible flare you do not have to have a C-Section. I delivered my son vaginally and was in a small flare. There is absolutely no risk of infecting the baby just because you deliver vaginally there is also not more of a risk of a tear. You can tear whether you have UC or not. Most women don't tear though. You really do need to try to get the flare under control if possible. You also need to talk to a GI and you OB/GYN should become informed on UC.

My OB was fully aware of my UC diagnosis and it never played a part into our conversations regarding delivery. I was having a minor flare (increased mucous with each formed BM) during the last month of pregnancy and used Cortifoam to help heal the inflammation. As soon as I gave birth all of my UC symptoms improved.

How bad is your flare? (#of BMs, Blood? Mucous? D?) What are you using for treatment for your flare? Are you taking any meds during your pregnancy? Are you using diet modifications or taking supplements?

Have a conversation with your OB first and get informed by a professional.
