Hi sara....I've had a great day and feel back to normal.

I did some reading online last night about some who did the same switch as I did...seemed many of the same symptoms. The zaps, to me, were from the wellbutrin...because it wore off once I was ready to take the next dosage and got progressively worse throughout the day.


It could possibly have been in part from dropping the Effexor, but the symptoms weren't anything like I had even if I forgot to take it for an entire day and a half. Actually it used to get stuck in the pill organiser and I never noticed it got left behind.

It's good you're not having vivid dreams. Explain what you mean that you don't think its doing you any good. You're now on the 300mg once a day...right?

I'm definitely back on track...what a glorious relief! She's back, she's back the B is back!

How bad were you regarding depression? If you don't mind me asking what were all your symptoms exactly?

It can take a while for the meds to have one notice the more continually positive effects.

I had an awesome sleep and I am definitely back to normal. I'll see how I feel in a week.

I slept on Celexa, and that doesn't work for me.

To help ease my anxiety, I become depressed. The two work well together..sheesh.

I'm still anxious about stuff, but the attacks that take over have eased since getting back on it last winter.

Regarding the zaps...Effexor is actually an snri...and interestingly, were only worse when I took the wellbutrin once it attained serum level.
I did a lot of reading as well, and read that some who tapered off the effexor while on wellbutrin continued to have the zaps.

I think some of us just get along with some better than others. I truly wanted it to work for me, but no. I knew from moment one when I originally started Effexor it was the cat's meow.

I also think with some generics, the amount may be more or less...so that might have something to do with my combo symptoms.

Food is tasting better today as well...no nausea and only one normal bm, as per before the wellbutrin.
I ate like a pig yesterday!

My doc will probably roll her eyes..lol.

Ellen, have you tried restoril as a sleep med? She also gave me a script for that, but haven't filled it. Any feedback on that?

Quincy - Pretty severe and I think I've had it since childhood (now 27) but I've never taken meds before now. It's gotten much worse this year. I always just thought "that was just who I am." hehe.

I guess symptoms are being sad all the time, crying a lot, obsessive thoughts about my relationship mostly (not sure if this is depression or what), not having any motivation to do anything, even things I used to enjoy. I basically feel like laying in bed or sitting in front of the computer all day which isn't how I used to be. Really, really negative thoughts about myself. I also have some anxiety. I think that's about it. lol.

Hi Ellen.....since I haven't filled the prescription as of yet...I don't know if I will.
Yeah, that next day zombie feeling doesn't work well for me.

I'm already taking mag, cal, zinc. Interesting the B6 is in your mix, but I remember a long while ago that B6 was suggested for PMS.

Of course, my idea of getting to bed early is sucking at the moment..lol...soon..haha. I'll take your suggestion under consideration.

Sara....,yes, sounds like both anxiety and depression (they are like the perfect marriage..haha)...
It does seem things are improving if you have had moments of feeling happy. If you're not getting worse and feel "optimistic"...it's working.

But, if you're so optimistic and are so happy and make plans to do a million things....you're heading into the manic phase (even at a low amount). I remember going through that when I restarted Effexor 6 months after stopping it (many years ago), and I was planning so many things with such enthusiasm to my husband. He stopped me and asked "what's the matter with you?...who are you?"..LOL.

if you have a chance to get into therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy is good to explore. It really helped me with the anxiety attacks I was having.

Thanks, quincy. Yeah, I'm in therapy now. I've been in therapy off and on over the years...never felt it helped me a lot but I'm optimistic about my new therapist. Yeah, I'm from from manic. lol.

This is a whole 'nother thread. Therapy. I finally found a good therapist and since I've been seeing her, I've become much more positive. I was negative and always complaining before I got with her. Her thing is chronic illness and we don't really talk much about it, which is good!

I had another therapist, and it didn't work out because I was in a bad place, she was older and had her own illness. Basically, she said, you're in your 50s, we get more illnesses, grow up. It was a negative approach for me.

journey2health - Your last therapist sounds like a b*tch. Sounds a lot like an older therapist I went to a few months ago. I only went twice and at the end of the last session I was in tears because of how mean she was to me. She was basically a bully. The new guy I'm seeing now says a lot of people complain about her. I'm seeing a psychiatrist tomorow for the first time. Kind of excited because she will know more about these meds than my family doctor who prescribed the wellbutrin.

you might try mixing the wellbutrin with an ssri

That's very interesting, kich. There are actually some clinical trials using Wellbutrin as a treatment for IBD...

All you can do is try it. Everyone reacts to psych meds differently. I had hopes for it, not for me.
