Looks like my brother may join the ranks of us. He is ten years my junior and I am not surprised considering his bathroom habits for the last 12years, but I was hoping it wasn't so. He will gat a colonoscopy in a few weeks after he visits with his family. The big difference is he gats mouth sores, as i'v never really had any. Also my sister get's bouts of them for as long as I can remember but she has absolutely no bowel symptoms. This rises my suspicion of crohns for him. He also has always had vomiting issues which he chalked up to anxiety. This in turn renews my crohns worries about my self as I consider surgery. Anyone know the deal with both IBD's running in one family. I know I have seen it talked about here. Is it possible or would that increas my own chances of having it. My docs are 99% sur I don't, but being a paranoid sickie, I am not as convinced I have never had upper GI stuff or canker sores etc. I wonder about fistulas, but so far know evidence that a mucous stream I get during bowel movements is one. I also worry that I had a bout of. Pyrodera gangrenosum behind my knee five years ago, but doc said no way to tell now and she has seen many. Skin issues unrelated to IBD in patients and non patients. Any way, good thought for my brother, I hope he just has something else. p.S. I have had the upper GI tests too. CT and barium.
