Anyone use this? I remember someone recommending it for inflammation. I bought some and have started taking it. I have started with 2 oz per day mixed with another juice as it is gross! Anyone else have any luck with it? What amount did you use? How long until you noticed a difference?
I am on 10mg of prednisone right now and my symptoms are returning. I am also taking imuran, which has only been for the past month. Not sure if I should up the prednisone or stay on 10mg with the symptoms that are bearable. I have used slippery elm and glutamate, but neither seemed to help. The aloe Vera juice is my next step.

Someone on this site recommended this aloe vera juice to me but I have never tried it so I am not sure when and how to take it. Maybe someone else can chime in here....

i never noticed a difference when i took it. i would do 2 aloe shots a day- 4oz of aloe juice with a squeeze of lime. maybe more is required? i'm not sure. i was using George's aloe because the only Lily of the Desert my store had was full of preservatives.

I have seen people post about
it a lot in the past and there was probably only one or two who have claimed to have luck who weren't trying to sell a product. Do a search and you will find some information.

Thanks for the feedback! I did a search on HW and didn't find anything. Doesn't sound like it is worth taking.

I take it and it helped me greatly. I guess it depends on the person :)

I've taken it before being diagnosed because its a form of treatment for any digestive issues (acid reflux, heartburn, IBS, IBD)... I can't say i've 'gotten results' from Aloe Vera Juice alone, but I know for certain its helped me:
-Keep my pH in balance (which regulates the immune system)
-Prevents me from having heartburn/acid reflux from whatever I eat
-Gives me energy
People refer to it as a laxative, but its actually alot like a bulking agent. If you're stopped up, or if you have some d, it helps in both circumstances, I doubt its really to blame for causing problems, as the strength of it is not very strong, and its likely that most store bought brands people buy are diluted with water to the max.
Forever Aloe Vera is the brand I buy. $15 every 2-3 months.
I've never tried Lilly of the Desert but I'm sure its great. Best time to take a 1-2oz drink of it is in morning when you wake up.

i have gotten results from the isotonix protocol with marketamerica.com. it was recommended by my doctor and has (we believe) put the ulcerative colitis in remission. it is a 1L bottle with Aloe juice, OPC 3, digestive enzymes, probiotics, B-Complex, orange juice, and half a liter of water. the brand I buy from market america has had the "laxitive" taken out of the juice, which is good. it helps move things along without giving you the runs. also, the natural flavor doesn't taste bad when mixed with the orange juice and other powders (it's just a little bubbly).

Try searching for serovera, that seems to be a popular brand.

Aloe vera juice is a natural laxative. I tried it and the explosions that resulted turned me away from it and I never looked back. During flares I break out the ole juicer. Its a cheapo centrifugal brand but does the trick. I've never tried aloe but I get good results from carrots, spinach, and celery. usually like 6 carrots a few handfuls of spinach and about
3 stalks of celery. It freezes well if you feel inclined to make a bunch. The carrot and celery taste good but I have to take the spinach like a shot, as its a bit on the earthy side for my tastes. shudder.
These are live atoms people and the juice is assimilated rather quickly but don't be surprised if you witness some in the porcelain depending on the severity of the flare. This is especially helpful if you are bleeding. I did some experiments back in school with the chlorophyll molecule and if you want a brainbuster look at how similar that molecule is compared to human hemoglobin.. swap out the mag in the chloro and insert iron and presto you got urself some hemo. I love me some mamma nature.
Peace and love

All brands made me much worse- they tiriggered increased pain, and also D, and actual flaring. Smeone suggested I try "George's Aloe vera juice" because supposedly it wouldnt have the harsh effect but it was just like all the others. I wont ever drink any aloe juice again.

I tried this after my diagnosis of UC- it did nothing and tasted bad. Never have tried the Nopalea stuff they sell on infomercials.

I tried it for a month or so and it did not help me. That's when I stopped drinking it and went with SCD.

I have tried Forever Living Product's aloe vera juice and have not had any success with it. I ended up having bloody D within the three days that I took a very small amount. I think it depends on who takes it, though. Some people work great with it. I also heard that it's the outer hard layer of the aloe that could cause severe D, but that it's the actual inner aloe vera gel that helps heal the inflamed. Some of the aloe vera juice products actually contain the outer layer in them so that may be one reason for the D. I don't think the Forever Living product one contains any of the outer layer.
According to an aquaintance who sells this product, you get diarrhea because the body is flushing out toxins (I doubt this is true for UCers) and that we should wait for at least 3 months for it to become effective and stop the D. I disagreed so I totally stopped using the product within 3 days since I did start to see blood in my stools.

What i found out was that if you take aloe vera it must be inner leaf gel only. The outer leaf acts as a laxative to us.
The Serovera brand is supposed to be the best ingredients from the inner leaf gel in a capsule, but is expensive.
There are plenty of juices out there that are pure inner leaf gel only.

I tried Forever Aloe Vera gel, it supposed to be one of the best in the UK, but I have more spasms and bleeding after I take it. Also, it contains ascorbic acid, and I think UC sufferers usually are very sensitive to it. Basically, if anything tastes slightly acidic, then it can create more bleeding and spasms. That's in my case anyway. So I wonder if I tried Aloe Vera gel without these acidic ingredients, may be I could tolerate it better then.

I take george's aloe vera. It doesn't taste bad at all, it tastes like water. It's the one recommended by Jinny Patel and Crohn's boy.

Old thread but i figured i could help someone.
When it comes to aloe vera i do not settle for anything other than the real leaf. 100 ml 2x a day, before meal. Taste is nasty at start but now it dont bother me at all. Everything we ever eat and taste is acquired so don't complain about
taste - get used to it. I mix this with turmeric, 3 pills a day. These have given me results so far. Best of luck. Oh I also did full alergy blood work and came up low sensitive to wheat so i am going gluten free which i think it's also helping. I urge u all to do a full allergy food test - uc has a huge autoimune aspect of it. Talk to an imunologist
