Hi guys. I've been making water kefir for about a little over a week now (I already have an overflow of water kefir grains) and each time I made a batch, I took a few sips of the water kefir, then discarded the rest (I was mainly just trying to get good grain growth first).
Anyway, today was the first time I actually consumed more than a few sips. I took half a cup of water kefir that had been fermenting for 3 days with an additional 1 day of secondary fermantation (after draining off the kefir grains, I just left the bottled water kefir in the fridge for 1 day).
I just had a bout of diarrhea (which isn't common for me) and I wasn't sure if this was related to the water kefir I drank. My diet definitely hasn't changed. I remember reading somewhere that your body has to become used to kefir first so you should introduce the kefir slowly which was why I took some sips for about a week before consuming half a cup. Could it be that the jump from a few sips to half a cup was too much? Has anyone else had experience with water kefir causing diarrhea?
Thanks
