I went to see my gyncologist and she said I have vaginal mucusitis she also said it's related to the flare I'm in

I hope this is all just a nightmare...

Hey Andrina,

I'm sorry about that :(. What is vaginal mucusitis exactly? I'm guessing it's inflmmation of the vaginal mucosa... I think I have that too, since I often have some kind of inflmmation "down there", althought I tested negative for infection. It's very annoying, and yes I think it'S related to UC , since the vagina is very close to the anus, bacteria can easily travel...

yes it's inflammation of the mucusa and my gyn said the same about bacteria

i dont know about treatment i'm waiting for the pharmacy to contact me

symptoms... well vagina's mucosa is inflamed and it's hurting and burning real bad

Ow. That sucks. Probably get cleared up quickly with an antibiotic or cream though. Is your colitis any better?

What does your doctor say is the next step? Obviously the enemas arent working.

Before I even got diagnosised with uc but had pooper issues I kept feeling like I had a urinary tract infection., frequency to have to keep peeing and like a pressure burning on bladder but I would never have an actual infection .... I saw a urologist said most likely inflammation esp if I had "other " ibd issues. She sent me to a gyno who gave me some hormone cream and started me on low dose birthcontrol pills and I take concentrated cranberry pill . That was 3 yrs ago. No problems since TILL yesterday. .... odd. I haven't been 100percent on cranberry pills and this last period was a weird one BUT WEIRD. WONDERING if somehow related to enema.

Andrina, what did ur dr say to do?

Sara, you feeling better, how long now on cortenemas? And will you taper soon. I'm doing better ish during day but I'm up in the night, thinking of trying enemas again...

My Dr gave me entocort which isn't helping thinking about pred again I cannot help it. It will give me bad side effects but I need this flare and the mucusitis under control I cannot deal with this.

So I got a suppository with hydrocortisone, something which numbs it and antibiotics. I just hope the antibiotics won't mess my gut up.

Hey guys. Hope the meds work for you Andrina. I started tapering a week ago...I'm on every other night now. Not sure if I should be using Rowasa on the off nights. My doctor told me I didn't have to taper at all and just to go back on the Rowasa. I am still doing really well...but not perfect like I was when I was doing nightly hydrocort enemas. Still hardly any symptoms though...just go like 3 times a day instead of once or twice. Scared to go off them completely though...

Oh yeah -- I also feel like I have to pee a lot sometimes. Sometimes it does seem related to a flare. I remember having that happen when I first got UC too. Odd...

Right now I'm not doing the enemas very regulary but I plan to go back on Rowasa. In fact I should do this tonight since this medicine against the pain caused by the vag. inflammation is working very well.

Funny that you mention that Sara. I have to pee a lot more too when I'm flaring. I don't know it's like the fluids run through our system faster and the colon cannot absorb it well.

The test results are back. They indeed found colon bacteria at my vagina. I forgot the name but I will have her hand out a copy to me. We will try an additional lotion to all that meds I'm taking. I hope it will finally help. In a way I'm amazed at those little monsters and also glad the found the reason why this is happening. But now I want to get rid of them.

Couple years later those symptoms returned. I just had surgery darn it

I'm convinced I'm still flaring and it's just manifesting in different ways now like vag. m. and joint pain, throat pain,... I got surgery to stop all this mess

I called my gyn this morning but they don't have any openings until October. I can't wait I need help now.

Ugh, the gyn can't put off for that long, they have to have some set up for emergency appointments, that's crazy! How are you doing with the j-pouch?

Technically, the j-pouch is doing well so far I think. Yea I called her back a moment ago and they still didn't have any answer for me. I told them I at least want Lidocaine for the pain. That's what I had last time.
