Hey all, this study just released shows that Propionyl-L-carnitine was extremely effective for UC:

After treatment, 71% (SE 12%) of patients achieved clinical response, while 64% (SE 13%) obtained remission.

Anyone try it ever? I'm going to order some.

The September issue does not seem to be in the databases yet. Only up through August. I will be keen to read more about the sample size, and dosages, and to learn more about how they defined remission.

It sounds great, but that is all the more reason to take a close look. I nee to make a note to fetch this paper next month.

i started taking it after reading this thread haha i take 2 pills a day but the bottle says up to 8 pills a day.

Interesting. I've been taking L-carnitine for the past few months for my narcolepsy (hasn't really helped). I asked my GI if it would have any effect on my guts (I'm always paranoid about something affect my gut), and she said that it just goes through the kidney and shouldn't make any difference on the gut.

I've been taking it for a week... too early to tell. No negative affect, at least.

Is this the same as L-carnitine? It seems they are slightly different?

Any updates on this stuff. The trial was with enteric coated PLC.  Anyone seen any difference with just

plain old L Carnitine. PLC enemas also seem to work,might be better since we cant get the enteric coated PLC,most likely.

I was going to reply and realized I already did... Forgot about this thread. I have taken L-cartinine, I think, in my supplement past, but wonder the difference... No other updates from anyone??

no difference in my UC but not surprising. i finished up my bottle but won't be buying more.

bananagirl - do you know if yours was was your PLC or ALC? I couldn't tell looking at the ingredients. I take ALC, great for brain. Highly recommend The study for UC and Cartinine was with PLC.

AKB - you still around? If you are , would love to hear how you are doing
