I only take imodium when I absolutely have to (long car trips, etc). Saturday we had to go to a party about an hour way. I had already gone to the bathroom a good bit that am so I took 2 imodiums. Sunday I didn't go at all (assumed imodium was still affecting me). Today, Monday, I am having a terrible morning. Back and forth back and forth. I took Bentyl but it is not helping :(

Sometimes I feel worse after I take imodium. But it does help me when I need it. Ugh. Love, hate relationship w/ it!

Imodium should only be taken when diarrhea is involved, which is the case for many UC'rs. I too hated taking it because I still felt like I had to go to the bathroom all day long even if I didn't. I eventually decided I would rather go and feel good for a few hours rather than constantly feeling like I always had to go even when I didn't.

I take Immodium quite often. Sometimes it makes me feel blah later on in the day or the next day but for the most part, I tolerate it well. It's my saving grace and gives me peace of mind when I leave the house. My only issue with it is it takes about 2 hours to work so I always have to plan in advance and take it a few hours before I need to leave.
