Is anyone else able to freely pass gas? The only time I am able to do so is by sitting down on the toilet, this will be followed by a little blood and mucus as well most of the time.. But I been in a flare for about
2 months now and haven't been able to pass gas anywhere but in the bathroom since.. Didn't know if this was normal or not.. And also it seems the only way I ever have a bowel movement is with the passing of gas as well.. Being newly diagnosed I was wondering if this is normal

While flaring, never trust a fart! Lol but I can freely let it go now I'm in remission.

Lol yeah I just go straight to the bathroom assuming other interesting things will follow the passage of air that knocks at my rectum

Yep, it is fully normal. I also was like that. Thanks to food combining I got rid of that problem.

Yep, unfortunately it is normal while flaring. Once you're in remission though, you should be in the clear. Oh the joys of UC!

Yes, it's normal while flaring.
What meds are you on? I'll make the suggestion now of rectal meds...

Ah how I miss farting. I'm flaring and farting is like playing Russian Roulette at the moment. Better to sit on the bowl just to make sure, rather than to risk changing your underwear afterwards.
My wife is really missing my farting and also my beer breath at the moment (holding back on alcohol till this thing is under control).

while flaring it was usually at least a mucous shart if not more. In remission I fart my bum off, I have been farting all day in my cube, they are quiet and don't smell, it really is liberating.
Hope you can fart soon and not worry about
anything else coming out w/it.

I can't believe this is my first post, but. . . .
Sometimes, at home, I desperately feel the need to pass gas just to relieve the pressure. And sometimes to "prompt" this, lying on the floor, with my head toward the couch, face up, and then bringing my feet over my head to the couch. . . . is the only thing that works!
Thank God I have a wonderful husband, because in a flare (only the 2nd bout of this; first diagnosed last April), it's foul.

I could only fart while on the toilet for a year or more. It was just too risky to try to pass gas while in public or even on the couch. I hate to ruin a pair of pants. On the positive side, I am in remission now and I can pass gas again. If you heal the UC, you will be back to passing gas freely.
