Finally decided to start on the vitamin bandwagon...

I bought Centrums chewable multi-vitamin. Took my first one this morning and have felt extremely sick to my stomach/nausea. Could this be from the vitamin?

I used to take a synthetic multi vitamin and also experienced feelings of sickness.

You should choose a food state multi vitamin - the nutrients will be of a much higher quality and far more easily absorbed.

I take Royal Jelly, which is particularly high in calcium, magnesium and zinc plus vitamin A, the full B complex and vitamins c, d and e.

First of all, its not a bandwagon. Although many of us try to eat healthier food, other GI system is messed up enough that it can not absorb everything that we need. So it is really a need, IMO.

And lately, I have been researching vitamins more and more. I am realizing for fact that majority of supplement manufacturers are using cheapest possible components that fall under loosely defined supplement molecule to formulate the multivitamins. To give an example, Magnesium supplementation is done using Magnesium oxide, which is useless as a rock for Mg supplementation because of bioavailable Mg from that compound and citrate form would do a better job. For Vit E, dl-alpha tocopherol (synthetic form) is used. We need d-alpha and gamma-tocolpherols. l-alpha is useless.

I am preparing a list for which form of the vitamin or supplement is best and plan to supplement them individually, unless I find a formulation that is well designed.

So thus, we will have less problems associated with the formulation, like you have with Centrum.
