I
was relatively healthy until I was put on an unnecessary course of cipro that pretty nearly destroyed and melted my joints and cartilage away. I had to give up cycling, weight lifting and yoga - basically all the things that really provided meaning in my life and made it worth living. All because I trusted some stupid, overweight doctor who slaved through 12 years of medical training only to not know the basic difference between viral and bacterial conditions.
Now I'm left dealing not only with the nerve and tendonitis issues, but also mitochondrial dysfunction where my body refuses to heal the right way. My UC is probably the worst shape it's ever been at.
So for me, health is being able to do the things that I was able to do and enjoy. Even though I wasn't completely symptom free (morning cramping and bowel movements), I was still functional and living somewhat of a normal life before this happened. I'd give anything to go back to those days.
