Question about blood

Well even if you are feeling better I would still think the last of the inflammation could be further up. Just because UC starts at the bottom and moves up, I don't think it always heals top down. I've read studies showing how continuously inflamed untreated UC can be seen that way on the first scope. After treatment has started the same patients heal in patches.

yea the darker it is the further up it is probably coming. The more 'bound' it is to the stool usually means it comes from further up. If it is just dripping in the bowl though, that tells me its rectum/sigmoid inflammation that is causing that bleeding at least.

If it was mixed with the stool, coming from way high up, it would have to be a large amount and you would definitely notice. It most certainly wouldn't be stool with a little blood mixed in. Search melena on google and look at the pics and you'll see what I mean. It would be obvious.

I've taken a pic of what was going on in the toilet for my GI doc before. Those questions on the blood would confuse me too because I have one type of bloody diarrhea. It's the kind that looks like I slaughtered a lamb. I'm a bleeder for sure.

I was just thinking too, maybe the darker when I'm getting better is because it's been sitting in my colon longer, because I'm not going to the washroom as often? My inflammation goes 30cm, well that was a year ago, probably less now. I've never really understood how to tell if it's mixed in with the stool either, because either the stool is liquid and how am I to tell if it's mixed in or not, or it's solid, and unless I break it open somehow how would I know? Levi I googled melena and that's not what I see, thankfully!

PK they never found any parasites. The specialist said sometimes parasites can trigger an autoimmune response, but even after the infection clears, your autoimmune disease won't necessarily go away. I am doing somewhat better on sufasalazine than mezavant, and wonder if it's not the antibiotic component that's helping, which would mean some sort of bacterial infection? Who knows!

you should try a diagnostech's test laughingduck. Well, wait a couple months and lets see what ultimately shakes out for ConquerUC (she recently got a diagnostech's result back that Im excited for her about but she wont get her hopes up yet ;)_).. but I will say Ive been impressed with what they find compared to other tests.

What's a diagnostech's test? How do I get it? I'm starting LDN tomorrow, hoping that helps a bit, I'm so sick of this!
