Autoimmune Diseases

Hi, I'm new to this site and I have a question for you.

I have had UC for about 35 years, most of those years in remission with occasional flares. In the last 10 years I have been getting recurring Iritis (another autoimmune disorder). The doctor tells me that it is quite common for people who have one autoimmune disease to have more than one. I have a friend who has Crohn's and also has MS, for example. I was wondering, do some of you also have more than one of these nasty no-cure diseases?

I have had something called multifocal motor neuropathy which is an auto immune condition for the last 18 years which is treated with ivig. I was diagnosed with proctitis two years ago.

Iritis is a pretty common extraintestinal manifestation of UC. According to wikipedia it's 1-3% (that's common compared to some others!)

Personally I have very very mild psoriasis and eczema in addition to UC. My UC originally presented with bizarre skin issues several years before I was diagnosed, but those haven't recurred, knockwood.

I know someone with both Crohn's and MS, too.

My son got ankylosing spondylitis first at 16 then the UC at 18.
