I'm leaving this morning at 7:00 am for Aruba from Boston and just one question on urgency issues.

I have been doing pretty good with my uc since using the hydrocortisone enemas for 21 days and now I am rotating the mesalamine enemas on one night and the hydro on the next night. I have only been going once in the morning but it seems that maybe 5 minutes of awaking I have to go.

Also, I woke up super early this morning to get ready to go and thought maybe getting up at 2 a.m. I would have a problem going to the bathroom so early, but no. As soon as I drank my vsl #3ds I had to go to the bathroom.

When I first got UC I really never had this, I really wouldn't call it a problem, because I would often wonder if I was going to go the bathroom at all that morning, which if I didn't would be very uncomfortable throughtout the day.

Could the enemas have something to do with the issue of having to go to the bathroom as soon as I get up?

Glad to see you are improving. Unfortunately I had to stop the steroid foam enemas as they weren't doing anything also I had to change back from colazide to mezavant. I am now using salofalk enemas and did the first one last night.

I have always had to go to the bathroom as soon as I wake up. I think as soon as my body is awake it gets to work. I think as you have held the enema all night it does need to come out. My question is though this morning when I went it was a very sloppy mess of poo and enema. Do you think this is normal. Can I expect to have a normal formed poo when using the enemas?

Perhaps others on here will have some answers or advice.
I personally think I need to get everything out first thing on a morning then hopefully the rest of the day will be fine.

I thought you had already been on your trip. Enjoy!

morning poop is very very common for UC!
the urgency will decrease as you heal, but this may in fact be your new normal... :)

I was never a morning person... but since UC I've had to become one... I get up 2 hours before needing to leave the house to give my body the window it needs to do what it needs to do- when not flaring.. once I've gone in the AM (usually just once- sometimes twice) I'm pretty much good for the day!
