about 2 weeks ago I came off Prednisone, then started to have issues so had a flex sigmoid that showed I was moderately inflamed again...we decided as a last ditch effort I would try Uceris. I am wondering what experience others have had using Uceris...how long did it take to kick in. I want to give a long enough try because the next step is a biologic, I believe he is leaning towards Cimzia ( not sure of spelling.

Uceris took about 7-10 days to work for me. I'm currently on 125mg of 6mp, 4Lialda & rowasa enema nightly. My doc was trying to push a biologic because I had lingering symptoms. People on this site recommended the rowasa enema and that has been my difference maker for now. Not sure if you've tried the rowasa enemas but I would try that before the biologic. The rowasa took about 2 weeks + to make a difference. I took a 30 day dose of Uceris and it helped a little but not much. Good Luck!!

I have hydrocortisone enemas that I use occasionally, but a lot of my problems are lower rectum so have been using Canasa SUPP. twice a day...Is Rowasa a steroid or a mesalamine or something else???
Should I use the hydrocortisone enemas or use canasa during the day and the enema at night??

Rowasa is a mesalamine like the lialda. It should help the lower rectum. I would use the Rowasa at night and then the canasa in the day time. I've used the hydrocortisone enemas alot and they are good because they relieve symptoms quickly but are only a temporary fix like a band aid. The rowasa you can take indefinitely without major side effects. (Maintenance Drug)

I would recommend an enema too. Rowasa/Mesalazine doesn't help me anymore so I do hydrocortisone enemas. In order for them to help you have to do them regularly.

I had a very good experience with the Uceris. I had pancolitis and I still bled on 60 mg pred. I asked my GI about Uceris and he was hesitant to give it to me. I said I wanted to give it a shot. And I had good results. After 2 - 3 weeks I was symptom free.

@Andrina: I am hopefully, it seems to be helping some and I have been on it about 11 days, also doing the Canasa supp and enema at night. I really would like to avoid a biologic if possible, but at this pt. I just want my life back and not have to worry about having an accident or feeling like crap.

I will keep the faith!!

I had a very bad reaction to Uceris. Severe cramping, bloating, gas, bloody stool, fever. It was awful! However, everyone is different. It does not seem to work as well for many as Predisone, however it's side effects are so little compared. Give it a shot and see how you feel. The overall statistics and studies have found it much safer then Predisone, wouldn't be bad to try.
