I heard about
DMSO from Levi here posting about
how one of the immediate effects was a firming of the stool and pain relief, and will be trying to reproduce these results at home.
I purchased the 99.98% DMSO and it should be arriving in the mail today, I will also try it on my acne and scalp folliculitis.
Has anyone had experience with DMSO as well? I can't seem to find much about
other than that it makes you smell like garlic/onions, but thats irrelevant if it can ease the pain and give me formed stools.
Either way, another shot at experimenting, maybe I'm just an idiot prone to believing there's a way to relieve UC symptoms without the use of steroids, immunosuppressants or surgery. I'll keep you guys posted, but would love to hear any stories or experiences you may have had with DMSO, I plan on using 1 tsp undiluted at 99.98% strength on my abdomen if I can tolerate it after a spot test, otherwise I will dilute to 50% or 70%.

Thanks for the link, I got uc, it says there are anti-inflammatory effects from it but nothing about
it's use in UC.
There were claims of people with Crohn's disease using it topically and inducing remission with it, was hoping to hear if anyone tried it for UC as well, before I went ahead and experimented on myself.

This was the story that I stumbled upon while researching DMSO:
http://www.ip-number.com/DMSO/krysalis/dmso.htm
Unfortunately the author, Dr. David W. Gregg, Ph.D. and owner of the krysalis domain, has died in 2011.
I hope this works, will keep you all posted

So I mixed about
a tablespoon amount of the 99.98% dmso with a capful of water and then rubbed it all over my abdomen.
The smell was immediate, but not strong at all, very faint onion smell. No taste yet, but it's only been a few minutes.
The pain seems to have gone down immediately. I hope this is not a fluke. It's too early to tell but I think it's working! The skin irritation is very minor, just slightly tingly.

The pain relief works, but is definitely temporary, I can feel the pain now again, that familiar pressure in the rectum and abdomen, going to try some more dmso to see if it can stop it.

That sounds great fightUC. I hope it gives you longer lasting relief with subsequent trials.
Bananagirl I didn't even realize you used it, that sounds like great results also. Since my scope wasn't too bad today I'm definitely going to keep using it.

The best use and reason I keep it in the kitchen is because if you burn yourself immediately apply it and you wont blister up. This saved a ski trip out in Oregon when boiling pancake syrup landed on my hand.

levi, i use it daily now! i am switching it up next time and ordering MSM since it is an excellent source of sulphur as well. i also read that MSM can be taken orally while DMSO is not recommended that way.

Never tried DMSO? I get some wrist pain occasionally. I usually have to ultrasound it at work.

Awesome bananagirl. What MSM product are you going to buy/use? I may try it out also.

Where can one buy this? Does it also help with reduction of urgency and frequency? Can someone post a link where I can purchase it online? Thanks!!

Hi pmitra0123, don't waste your money like I did, I was so hopeful that it would help but in reality the pain relief only lasted a few hours, maybe it was just a placebo. I started getting really flaky and irritated skin, still irritated and red from the application. Tried ingesting it but it seems to have caused bumps to grow on my skin. I am not sure it's worth it. I did not get formed stools, or a decrease in diarrhea or constipation. I bought it from Dr. Jacobs website. I do not recommend it. It is not a cure nor long term remission. It has not had any other beneficial effect on me.

Hi all! Levi and Bacon Girl, do you know if you can take DMSO if you are on Remicade or another immunosuppressant? I'm looking at trying a treatment I found on the Listen to your Gut website and was looking to see if you had any info on using these together.
