I've been prescribed 1g pentasa sup nightly.. It's worked for the last four years. It's not longer working. My scope showed inflammation but still only in rectum. I'm waiting to see dr for actual results. What's the maximum Pentasa I can use? Thanks in advance

I am pretty sure you can use as much Pentasa suppositories as you can jam up there. But then again, if its no longer working, why would you still want to use it?

One can take 4grams a day of either a suppository or enema for uc. 1gram a day probably isn't enough; uc has a tendency to spread and get worse in severity when your uc maintenance medication isn't sufficient.

You could try a steroid suppository/enema as a temporary solution to get the inflammation controlled.

It hasn't spread, but there was inflammation visible. Last scope it was only on biopsy. Pentasa is all I have till I see my dr.. Max would you mind giving me an update on your condition since FT. I'm seriously considering this as an option if pred is a possibility. Are you on meds??

I was initially on 4g enema at night plus 1g suppository in the am, that a total of 5g up the butt/day. I'm no doctor, but if all you've got on hand is the suppositories I don't see why you couldn't use 2-3 a day...until you can discuss with your Dr.

Hi Petah. I still have IBS but no more bleeding. It is best you discuss with your dr regarding FMTs.
