What are your symptoms?

Also after proctitis is confirmed through a colonoscopy how is it decided whether it's Proctitis from UC or Crohns..... or is Protitis just Proctitis on its own?

Diagnosis is based on visual observation during the colonoscopy and the lab results of biopsies taken. Proctitis and ulcerative colitis are the same disease, the difference being the extent of disease. Proctitis is limited to the rectum, whereas a general uc diagnosis states the inflammation goes further. Uc is a shallow (in biopsy), and the exam shows continuous inflammation pattern. Crohn's is patchy (not continuous) in examination and deep tissue damage (in biopsy).

I think Crohn's in the rectum can be hard to distinguish from proctitis due to UC. In any case, the treatment is the same.

This may help. Proctitis can be a little confusing :) Your doctor should be able to tell from your biopsies and other tests if you have UC or Crohns, but sometimes these things can be inconclusive and the proctitis itself is just idiopathic. I wouldn't worry too much, there's every chance it won't spread and so you'd be as well just treating it as proctitis on its own.

Actually, there are many different types of proctitis, beyond ulcerative & Crohn's. Only ULCERATIVE proctitis and ulcerative colitis are the same disease, with ulcerative proctitis being limited to the rectum.
