MISSED ENTYVIO INFUSION..GETTING OVER INFECTION

have not posted for a while.. Feb had flu, followed by UTI, bronchitis, sinus infection and eye problem related to UC. Had the flu shot but had flu anyway.. and was on a prednisone taper... As I got closer to infusion date the bottom fell out and had one infection after another. MY GI doc placed my infusions on hold due to infections.... missed 3 wks. My GI problems are ok but seem not to be able to get past the mass of infections that popped up. Finally had my infusion on this Monday... but today feel like UTI is not far away. I am really happy that my stomach and gut survived 2 rounds of oral antibotics and 1 injection of ancef. My GP feels that GI took me though prednisone taper too fast. Lab work is great. No UC flare ...yet.
During that month...my joints hurt something awful... seems to be better since getting entvyio. Thought I had eye infection from sinus problems.. but 2nd round of drops, I went to a specialist .. I was right in doing this as it was irisitis. Started day entyvio was due. On steroid drops for 2 wks and recheck. He said it was mild.

Has anyone had this experience.?

It was the ongoing infections that had us consider stopping Remicade, and then it stopped on us...and we tried desperately to get it to work again, as the UC stopped everything. Partial list: bronchitis, pink eye, pneumonia twice, Mono twice( really once so bad they said lymphoma, then damped down till said gone, then back again so strong it was contageous again),rashes, strep throat, mysterious swelling. Doc finally said then next infection could be the end ...then Entyvio, then surgery followed.
Step #3 is Monday. Hasn't been sick since, colds now last a normal 3-6 days. So yes, having a compromised immune system is potentially life threatening, but so is surgery....

Could the iritis and joint pain be due to the prednisone taper? That's what happened to me: episcleritis, joint pain, erythema nodosum, canker sores. I bumped up the pred and they all went away. I'm trying again. Hope you feel better soon!
