Hey Guys,

So 2 weeks ago I switched from Delzicol to Lialda to see if that would benefit me at all. Well, today blood showed up again and I've had to go all day. I had to wait on a supply for my enemas so I haven't done my enemas in 2 nights and I haven't worked out in a week which I usually do 4 times a week on average. Everything else has been the same.

My question is, could this be the delzicol wearing off and Lialda kicking in? Should I give it some more time? Any thoughts?

I think it's more likely to be the missed enemas than anything else. Has your stool consistency changed or is it just the urgency and blood today?

Just the urgency and blood. However, I've missed enemas for more than 2 nights before (4-5 nights) and it did not affect me as far as changing urgency or blood / mucus etc. so I don't think that is the problem.

Did you switch meds because you weren't doing well on Delzicol?

I always consider blood and urgency to sure signs of flaring, but recognizing which direction the flare is heading -toward remission or just getting started- to be hard to gauge on only one event. I would give a few days to see how you do. If you are not improving or getting worse especially after restarting the enemas then you might want to rethink your treatment. Have you tried Uceris yet? I had really good experiences with it the first few times I took. This disease requires a lot patience and getting into a remission, in my experience, has been more of a process with the ratio of good days to bad slowly growing.

Well my body was upset for several days when switching between asacol hd and lialda, then settled down fine. Meslamine is fast acting, I wouldn't expect a reaction much longer than that. I bet missing the enemas is the cause.

Hey guys,

This morning was more blood than yesterday morning. Last night, not much blood if any though but the urgency was all there yesterday and I'm guessing will be there today.

I switched to Lialda because the Delzicol prescription that my doctor gave me was more than the recommended (12 a day instead of 6) and I've heard better reviews about Lialda (was cheaper in this case) so I decided to switch and see if that gets me over the hump (I was doing okay on Delzicol, simmering though).

3 days ago I switched from the doctor samples of Lialda to the actual prescription though so I wonder if that is causing a small reaction as mentioned of getting worse before it gets better. The doc samples smelled like weed and the Lialda prescription that I have now smells and tastes completely different.

I have not tried Uceris but I believe my doctor said he wants to try the 8 week dose of that next so we'll see.

Uceris takes time to work. It actually did work for me. Try canasa for urgency?
