Since my initial UC diagnosis I have not gotten my period. I had it when they did the colonoscopy and biopsy and than it never came. I never miss periods. Like ever.
Did anyone else miss just one period or do people tend to "lose it"
I am curious if it's from any of the drugs that are maybe messing with hormone levels but I'm scared that I won't get it anymore
Can the trauma from a huge flare cause this

I've always had normal periods, except when I am on birth control that stops them. You shouldn't really be missing them... Are you anemic? I think steroids can also cause missed periods.

I'm only a little anemic (10.6 hemoglobin).
The steroid thing is interesting cuz I was on IV steroids for 16 days
And I was on 40 prednisone for a week and a half and now I'm on medrol taper instead of prednisone
Does this mean that I will become regular when I get off the oral steroids
Or will the cortifoam contribute to this?

Steroids can mess up your reproductive (and other) hormones. I would mention it to my doctor and you might want to get our hormone levels checked. Weight is also a factor. If your BMI is very low that also causes hormone disruptions.

A severe illness can absolutely delay ovulation and then your period will be late.

i stopped getting it when i was diagnosed with left sided UC in jan 2011. i did get a short and very crampy one sept 2013 but that's it. still waiting for another random one to show up.

before that, they were always very light and i never had cramps. they've been irregular ever since i got it at 13 but never this long of an absence.

When I had a bad flare and was on Pred for seven months, I missed several periods. After a few months, they were back to normal.

I don't know if it was the Pred or simply being really, really sick and losing 20 pounds in a month.

Definitely check with your doctor but don't worry too much.

I've never missed getting my periods in my 24 yrs of having IBD unfortunately!! I can't believe that the day would come that I'd be hoping for menopause to finally arrive in the chance that it might straighten my guts completely out...sickening!
