Many Asian cultures take their shoes off at the door and wear socks or switch to indoor-only shoes. I don't 100% but most of the time take my sandals off so I don't track in dirt I have to vacuum, athletic shoes not so much due to having to sit, untie, etc.

Once a teen down the street visited and took his shoes off before entering, without being asked. Surprising but guess his family does that and he is not Asian.

I always thought it was weird when I watched shows on TV as a kid and noticed no one took their shoes off when they entered into a house....where I live, we don't walk in and keep our shoes on, it's just not a common sense thing to hang out inside your home with your shoes on that you wear out of the house...is this an American thing? I think it's weird that some people do it. My parents came right from Europe to Canada and they never wore shoes in the house either, my mother would beat a person with their own shoes if anyone ever tried to do that in her super clean home (she was crazy though lol) I mean if you just left the house and forgot something, depending on how easy on-off it was you might go into the house with your shoes on to grab whatever and leave but not hang out in a house with shoes on, that's just bizarre to me lol.

My family's shoes come off when entering. Just what we do. I raised my kids that way. Our friends and family know when they come in our house their shoes get parked by the door. Probably annoys some of them but I don't care.

Cdiff is within all of us. As long as it isn't an overgrowth, no issues. It's an opportunist, so no giving it chances.

newsflash: whats outside your house is also inside of it and probably there is more of it inside (due to lack of sun exposure), unless you live in a quarantine or a medical isolation.

Do you also know they spray all of our crops with Dihydrogen Monoxide which causes death due to accidental inhalation of DHMO, even in small quantities.

our shoes are always off.
This info's been out there publically for at least 35 years. They just keep adding to the list.

I've seen women put their purses on the bathroom floors and backpacks.....yeesh.

Bad enough that in restaurants parents take their kids to the bathroom and then let them stand on the seats.

everything is everywhere......the least we can do is limit what we knowingly expose ourselves to .

Anyone here at least clean their cellphones? I do every time I come home if I've used it while out.
And I clean my purse regularly and never put it on the floor except my own.

I recently read somewhere that using sanitizers doesn't kill or remove c-diff, soap and water does tho.

I'm honestly amazed I don't come down with c. diff or food poisoning every month with my lax hygiene. Everything that people have squirmed at in this thread I've done. And I don't think my phone has seen sanitiser in its life. I do take my shoes off indoors for comfort reasons, but not before treading c. diff everywhere first.

I almost always go barefoot. I don't wear shoes in the house and I do yoga, dance hooping, and Indian classical dance barefooted.

I've never related to the whole shoes on thing in the house... it never occurred to me that people in North America did it any other way. My parents always made us take our shoes off in the house. Only if there was a real hurry and we had to run back to get something did we leave them on.

We had carpets though, as well as a dog and cat that both went outside. So it probably didn't matter. The dog and cat would sleep on my bed at night too.

The hysteria over germs is unfounded. I've read some papers which theorized that less sterile cultures are less likely to develop auto-immune disease. It's the germ phobic ones that are compromising their own adaptivity.

i thought of c diff the entire time i was in the ER today. when i got home, i threw all my clothes AND shoes in the wash and took a shower! i used bleach wipes on my phone, purse, crutches, and walking boot.

Hope your foot heals without any further issues....take good care to not overdo once it's feeling better.

Yeah...i wipe everything that comes home with me in some way, except money :b
Ever wonder about the conveyer thingie at a grocery store? Or what lingers on walkers...not only the elderly...or wheelchairs? The questions are endless and bugaboos can be carried everywhere.
