Anyone get the email on this? Thoughts....

Yeah, fell in line with some of our issues. That's why I found it a little intriguing.

This is what my doctor began setting me up with when my insurance cancelled VSL. He said it was a very good option. I chose to just buy the VSL instead since it has been so beneficial thus far.

It's not a probiotic so maybe you should give it a try together with vsl :)

Hmmmm....that's an idea. As I'm slightly flaring right now it might be a good thing to try :)

lucky you can get the prescriptions, the price is so high that maybe i'll finally turn to the bone broth instead :)

Has anyone had their insurance company approve coverage Enteragam? It seems like the last year or more, the insurance companies are really cracking down on "Medical Foods" and coverage.

I've been fighting with my insurance company to cover VSL3-DS for the past 3 months without any success. They are calling it a "medical food" and its up to their discretion if they cover me or not for the "medical food". I'm like the perfect case for VSL-DS, I get recurrent pouchitis in my j-pouch which VSL3-DS has been clinically proven to help treat.

I don't mind the pouchitis, it's not nearly as bad as UC. It's more of a minor inconvenience and discomfort, but I'm trying to keep my pouch healthy.

I'm looking at the packet now. The ingredients are:

serum-derived bovine immunoglobulin/protein isolate, dextrose, sunflower lecithin

It is a decent size packet but mixes into liquids much easier than VSL. Again I've not being diligent on trying it b/c of some dental work this week. I'll start back tomorrow and let you guys know.

Bringing up an old thread to see if anyone has any new insight on this stuff? Doctor gave me a 15 day supply of samples, tried it for the first time this morning. I mixed it with iced tea..which was a terrible idea, and was therefor only able to drink about half of it. This evening I mixed it with Keffir and that made it a little easier to take. Usually this time of the evening I begin my hourly ritual of bathroom trips and cramps but so far just some mild gurgling. Really hopefully that this could be helping.

I just received Enteragam in the mail today for my cronic pouchitis. Wow, everyone is correct about the taste being awful to handle; it tastes like chalk and it's really hard to drink.

Surprisingly my insurance company covered this, max copay ($50) because it is not on their formulary. They haven't covered VSL3-DS in the past for me because they considered it a medical food and Enteragam is also a medical food.

Hi guys, I'm new to this site! I have a j-pouch from bad Ulcerative Colitis that we couldn't get in remission my colon perforated. I've had the j-pouch for about 7 years now. I have recently been diagnosed with Crohns & prescribed Enteragam. I'm on Day #2 however, the taste is horrible. Has anyone found anything to mask the taste or make it easier to get down?

I have been on EnteraGam for 2 weeks now and I have to say, it is working wonders. I am back into remission that quickly. My doctor gave me a 30 day supply sample because it is very expensive. I started Humira yesterday, so my doctor said there was no more need for the EnteraGam, but if I ever have another flare, which I am sure I will, I am definitely getting more of the EnteraGam. I know your doctor must get a prior authorization in order for your insurance company to cover it. Some will cover it , but most will not because it is called prescription food and not a prescription medicine. I do see a tremendous difference when taking it though! I mix it in oatmeal or yogurt and it tastes great! Worth asking your doctor and insurance company about!!
