I was using one type of mmj that did not have any THC in it but it really never helped me with the physical issues so I switched that type for a low THC and still a high CBD for my daytime use and it helps more than the type that has no THC. the nice thing is that it's totally up to me to decide the % of strains and type of strains and amount to smoke per day since this makes it a med that you can customize completely to your personal needs....it helps with more than just inflammation and pain, so much more, a couple of examples are: insomnia and stress coping. I was hoping to have success with the type that has no THC to see if I could function during the day, driving and such but unfortunately I need the THC to get any benefit.
According to the internet, there is a possibility THC might be immunosuppressive and/or anti inflammatory. CBD is also claimed to be anti inflammatory.
If I was desperate, I would get it and smoke it, but only to achieve remission.
They also say that cigarettes help UC. Does it really make a difference whether you smoke marijuana or cigarettes? One is illegal the other is not...
Yes, it makes a difference from my experience at least...I also smoke cigs (I have crohn's not UC but my CD affects my colon, so "crohn's colitis) cigarettes don't aid with pain, mj does....smoking did cut back some of my daily bm's (I quit for about
3 yrs at one point and my flare became worse, I've always flared in the 23 yrs of being sick but finally found remission for the very first time with Humira, but I have IBS issues that I'm still trying to get under control) I went back to smoking cigs and as I mentioned it did cut back some of my daily bm's but not enough to function in daily life all that great...it's carbon monoxide via smoking that aids wit inflammation in the colon which is what aids with colitis) MJ on the other hand is amazing, it helps with pain, it helps physically and emotionally (in regards to making me feel more relaxed) it helps me sleep all through the night and fall asleep faster, and it calms my gut right down for hours (compared to cigs which doesn't have the same calming effect as MJ does) MJ definitely beats cigs in my opinion when it comes to aiding with health issues (inflammation in the colon).
