Hello All,

My GI advised to start using VSL3 and i just placed an order for

VSL 3 High Potency Probiotic Capsules for Ulcerative Colitis - 60 ea

How many Caps i need to take per day?

Can i take 1 per day every day night?

Please advise.

Start slow, see how you handle it. I take once or twice a week two or three tabs before bed.

They work great and keep cdiff at bay, is what a GI told me!

What is meant by cdiff? I'm sorry for asking this as I'm very new to VSL3

On the other note did you started seeing any difference after staring VSL3?

Ongosh yes I saw a huge difference with using it! My tummy grumbling and very noisy and unhappy, now no noise and less cramps!


I dont know much anout Cdiff. Its a nasty infection that is very contagious and hard to get rid of. You get it (i think) when u kill off all the good bacteria in your gut. Vsl replaces it.

Someone can explain it better.

Do we need to take 2 to 3 at once or 1 per day for 2 to 3 days

I should add that I took every day at first until I felt better. Its not cheap so i just take a couple times a week now.

Take one - three a day. You have to determine that. ;-)

I took all at once at might just so they could have time to work without food

I take mine first thing in the morning before I eat. I get the packets (VSL#3 DS). Those are covered by my insurance.

Lucky! I have tried everything to get covered by insurance. No I just get free samples when ever I can from my dr.

I do the VSL DS packets as well and love them. When I'm flaring I'll do as many as 4 packets a day, but much less when things are calmer. They have worked better for me than any other probiotic!

don't get freaked out if you get a little extra diarrhea when you take it for the first time. It took me about a week to adjust to to VSL DS.

I am not fully sure what it has done for my UC but I used to get yeast infections and I have not got a single one since starting it. (And no other probiotic before corrected the problem.) I also swear that it gives me an extra boost of energy about an hour after taking it.

I go every other day because the stuff is so darn expensive.
