Advice warning graphic syntax

Hi,
I'm nearly five months into a flare, I get occasional bright red blood but now it's very dark and very smelly. I was diagnosed in January with proctitis after 30 years of indeterminate colitis. Here's the gross bit, when I try to go to defacate large globules of dark red/ black liquid comes out. They are suspended in mucus and dispel when flushing.
I'm used to blood etc this bit is a bit new to me, I always thought the darker the blood the higher the bleeding but I was finally diagnosed with proctitis hence why I'm a little discombobulated with what's coming out the old poop shoot!
Any ideas..........?

Several weeks with intermittent fresh blood, driving me batty! I had c diff twice before it's definitely not that. Can UC travel up from the anus?

UC starts at the very end of the rectum, but doesnt involve the anus.
You definitely need to get sampljng done to rule out any type of invader.

If you are going only a few times a day, blood from lower down mixed with some stool and mucus will have a darker appearance, so it doesnt always signify higher.
Absolutely iron supplements will cause a darker colour.

Have you never been on any rectal meds?
