Six Months UC Free

Congrats NSSG! I remember us going through takedown around the same time last year. It was nice to go through that period of time together in a way. I'm happy to hear you are doing well! Similarly, things with me are great and surgery was indefinitely the best decision I could've made. I can't believe it's 6 months already. Take care :)

7x a day definitely beats the 20+ a day I was going with UC. Along with those 20 trips was pain, urgency, unpredictability, sharts... it was no way to live...
and being med free and free of the medical expenses I was incurring is a huge plus. Being free of the steroids, has been a dream. Free of the weight I was carrying from them for those years is the icing on the cake.

Congratulations. I hope you continue to participate in the forum to show what can be possible for others.
BTW going 7 times a day isn't so bad considering that most of us have to pee that often anyway.

I don't know if I am ready for a new name yet. I feel like I was sick for so long, I kind of identify with being not so sickly. Being healthy, hmm, that's an entirely new prposition - but I like it :) I still have exhaustion and a stiff neck today, so perhaps I am not that well...

atwoodt, I can't believe we are both flying forward. Six months has passed quickly. I can't believe I am able to go where I want, when I want, eat what I want, make plans... :)

Poppie, how are you? I haven't seen you around lately.

GC, I don't think you should rush. I understand wanting to be free of UC, but some of the medications can work really well and have a great track-record for safety and success achieving remission. At the same time, some people really don't want to deal with it. Look up the user RobinByrd, she always struck a chord with me because she had perm ileo surgery and completely moved on. She had a young child at the time too. You could try emailing people too if they show email addresses. I am good friends with EvaLou, she LOVES life since surgery.

These are all women who wanted to cut the crap and got perm ileos. Most don't post or rarely post because they are out living life. Actually, most people who have surgery move on. Even people who's children had surgery, that posted here the entire time they had UC, move on. Katmom popped in to give well wishes, but her daughter is out living life.

Definitely don't rush, but take your time and figure out what's best for you.

I am happy you're doing well and that you're learning what works and what doesn't. Juicing sounds so healthy, but I know when I had UC, it just made me gassy and uncomfortable (then again, most everything did). I love that you're maintaining a vegan diet. I would love to do that, simply because I love animals, but I think I would starve :(
