I have anemia and GI says UC related and wants to look for bleeding with colonoscopy. Cancer and iron-related issues ruled out.

He also wants me to have an endoscopy to determine if I have celiac disease which causes anemia. I got the celiac blood test which has 75 percent accuracy and it was negative.

Is there a less invasive way to figure out if I have UC-related anemia.

you can try CTE however, you are exposing yourself to radiation and the test is jest sensitive.

If there is severe bleeding it will detect, but mild stuff isn't always picked up. The good thing about it is a) no bowel prep. B)can visualize the whole intestines
But if they don't see anything might want to do the scope anyways.


What are your iron,b12,ferritin,hemaglobin?

What is being done to treat the anemia?

Looking ahead once you get test results:
If they advise you to take iron supplements (enteric coated tablets), you may get bad stomach pain. I had anemia from UC and couldn't tolerate them. Some folks have gotten iron supplement by infusion. Just wanted you to know if you are in dialogue with doctor about next steps.
