Any effective cheaper lialda alternatives.

I Just starting taking lialda, I had a bit of a shock when I found out it is 100 dollars for the script with my insurance. I was wondering if anyone had any experience generic meslamine instead? I can swing the lialda if I must, but it would be nice if there were a cheaper option.

there are cheaper, and some non-enteric coated ones that are generic - but with the discount card Lialda is the cheapest. I pay $10 too.

There are some generic similar medications to lialda (mesalamine): balsalazide disodium, Olsalazine, and Sulfasalazine. They're older uc medications without the delayed-release coating. They are more complex molecules that gut bacteria break down into mesalamine and a byproduct. Same result, different delivery mechanism.
