I had my gallbladder removed in 2005ish and got diagnosed with UC this year (2016). I am curious about
how digestion changes after losing a gallbladder and how that impacts UC. Specifically, digesting high-fat foods and roughage (ruffage? not sure how to spell ...kale and the like) seems to have become more difficult as bile is not as effectively released without a gallbladder to control its release into the small intestine. So, the poorly digested food can put more stress on the lower intestine, it seems. I sometimes take digestive enzymes with meals that are challenging. Has anyone else found digestive enzymes to be helpful?
Actually, nothing makes roughage okay. Tough leafy greens are the worst
