Who takes Tumeric supplements?

I took high potency turmeric/curcumin capsules (95%) for a year in doses from 2 g to 4 g. This is not the spice you buy in the store which is lower quality. Curcumin was very good for my UC but not good for my skin which became to susceptible to infection. My theory is that curcumin is such a strong anti-inflammatory that it prevented normal healing of minor skin scratches.

The medical information says that doses up to 8 g. are safe so perhaps I am just not normal, I have fair/thin skin but never had so many skin infections before taking it long term. Haven't had one since quitting.

I think you should try it, keeping dose under 2 grams, usually curcumin pills are 500 mg each. If you are using store bought turmeric you'll not need to worry at all.

I take 2-3 grams a day, a mix from several suppliers with different approaches to increasing bio-availability. I take because:

It's supported by research for UC
It's cheap
No side effects
May help non-UC inflammation as well
E.g., why not?

I think it helps but can't be sure unless I stop taking it for a while. But I would not rely on it to replace any of my prescription medications.
